Be A Rafiki!
Our Rafikis, which translates to friends in Swahili, are an integral part in helping us fulfill our mission statement by providing authentic stories and perspectives which help create proximity to Kibera. Many Rafikis attend boarding schools around the United States, while others attend local schools around Kenya and Africa. Here is what being a Muanzo Rafiki entails:

American Based Rafiki:

Maintains a connection and collaborates with a Blog Writer, Social Media Contributor, and/or a School Ambassador on media content

Consistently engages with social media content (including the Blog) and provides feedback to Head Coordinators accordingly

Attends or contributes on the panel of one Muanzo Mpya webinar each trimester

When in Kibera: contributes to networking and recruiting new Rafikis, sends video footage once every two weeks according to a predetermined schedule to Technology Manager, reports a weekly account of work in Kibera to Head Coordinators

Kibera Based Rafiki:

Attend one Muanzo Mpya webinar each trimester (unless time zone or internet proves to be a deterrent) and provide feedback

Prepare a video to contribute to a Muanzo Mpya webinar once a year

Maintains a connection with Head Coordinators

Reports a biweekly account of work in Kibera to Head Coordinators

Contributes to networking, recruiting new Rafikis

Sends video footage once every two weeks according to a predetermined schedule to Technology Manager
